Heartbleed Bug Information
Recently, public information was released about the Heartbleed Bug, an encryption flaw that can affect certain web server systems using SSL (sites that have https in the Web address). This is a critical vulnerability that can expose sensitive data, including passwords, to remote attackers.
We want to assure you that the servers First Bank of Baldwin uses were patched to eliminate the Heartbleed vulnerability. We have tested all of our systems, and determined that our web site, online and mobile banking applications are not vulnerable at this time to the Heartbleed attack. Customers’ personal and financial information are secure on First Bank of Baldwin systems. We welcome you to test our online banking site at https://lastpass.com/heartbleed/ and enter in ebanking.firstbankbaldwin.com to confirm we are “safe”.
First Bank of Baldwin must also caution customers that while our systems are secure, they need to take necessary precautions with their own personal computers and mobile devices to avoid potential attacks. An individual personal computer could become infected with a virus that compromises the transfer of confidential information.
It is a good idea to change passwords regularly. You may change your password now but we will prompt our system to require all users to change their passwords after 9:00am on 4/23/14.
Please remember these safe online banking practices:
*Do not use the same password for financial websites as any other site.
*Log out of any account when you’re done.
*Keep anti-virus software installed and updated on your computers.
First Bank of Baldwin takes the security of our customers’ information very seriously and constantly monitors its systems for potential vulnerabilities. We actively maintain security programs that meet regulatory requirements and industry standards to ensure the protection of our web sites and applications as well as our customers’ information. If you have any questions, please contact us at (715)-684-3366.
